Juliet Young has always written letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother’s death, she leaves letters at her grave. It’s the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn’t the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he’s trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can’t resist writing back. Soon, he’s opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither of them knows that they’re not actually strangers. When real life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart. This emotional, compulsively-readable romance will sweep everyone off their feet.

  1. I cannot wait to read this book. I picked up Thicker than water, enjoyed it so much that I goggled any other books by this author. Loved the Elemental series. Read the whole five in a matter of weeks (work and study got in the road)

  2. I came across Storm first and absolutely loved it. Immediately got the next one and loved that even more and the series just kept getting better and better. I couldn’t put it down till I’d read them all and then I went searching for more like a true addict 😄 Thicker than water did not disappoint. I absolutely love that the stories are so well written, with characters that are interesting and likeable and best of all, not Hollywood perfect, which makes them even more perfect to me. Even in paranormal, they feel realistic. And the books are not drowning in just physical attraction but unfolds in a way that molds romance into a thrilling story perfectly, giving the same if not a better feeling. It builds. Which in my humble opinion is an attribute of a really good author; the ability to capture an audience and make them connect with the story, keep them reading and fall in love with it. I loved every book. They were excellent reads. Brigid Kemmer, to me, is a truly talented author. Can’t wait for the next book.

  3. I honestly love all of your books. I read the elemental series and fell in love with Nick. After reading those I wanted to read another book that I couldn’t put down and found out that you write the book Thicker Than Water and loved that book too (really hoping that there if going to be a sequel,I need more!). Now I can’t wait for this book. I have an obsession with tie books and can’t wait for more.

  4. Yay! Another book. So excited for this! Your an inspirational author. I don’t know how you manage to produce so many high quality books as well as work and be a family woman.

  5. Hi! I just wanted give a quick appreciation to you and this book. I was one of the lucky few teenagers who is able to read and review ‘Letters For The Lost’ before it is published. I just finished it today. I have to say it’s one of the best book I have read. It’s very raw. I don’t usually say this but this book touched my heart and made me cry. I was able to relate to it surprisingly very much. Thank you. As a teenager, I know what it is to have your whole life be consumed by pain, fear, and regret by one incident, one day. This book has really made me open my mind to change and to courage. So once again, I thank you. You’re a true inspiration!

  6. Wow, I just finished this book literally minutes ago and I’m still trying to process the ending. Letters to the lost is one of those books you read and finish and then go, ‘What now?’ I really loved how honest and beautiful this story is and I can’t wait to start reading some of your other works!

    • Charlette,

Thank you so much for your message! I’m so sorry I’m just seeing your comment. I’m so touched that you enjoyed LETTERS TO THE LOST. You’ll be happy to know that the sequel, MORE THAN WE CAN TELL, will be out in March 2018. If you get a chance to read it, I hope you enjoy it just as much.

  7. Why do you do this to me? I just finished reading this book and in the last 10 chapters I cried more than humanly possible. Please tell me that there is going to be a sequel to this, because I need to know what happens to Juliet and Declan. You finished the book with such a cliffhanger than I got so angry that I had to grab the book, storm into the living room, gently place it on the couch (I’m not a monster, no matter how angry I am, I’m not going to damage a book), and proceeded to walk back to my room as quickly as possible, shutting the door behind me. Please tell me that you’re going to make this a series! You could even call the next book ‘Lost Letters’, or ‘Letters to No One’, or ‘Letters to the One’.
I hope you see this, Brigid. If you do, please respond.

    • Taylor, I’m so touched by your message, and I’m sorry I made you cry so much! There is definitely a sequel coming out. MORE THAN WE CAN TELL, which will be Rev’s book (though Declan and Juliet are definitely very much there, too!), will be available March 2018.

  8. I have just finished reading letters to the lost please please tell me there is going to be another follow on !!!!

  14. Dear Briged Kemmerer,
I felt like I had to write a letter for you, because I can’t describe how I felt after reading this book.
Thank you. Oh god, thank you so so so much. ‘Letters to the lost’ made me believe that there are still good young adult books in the world. Thank you for writing a love story that is not a cliche, not stereotypical and writing a book made of quality. I read this book in 5 days- I was confused do I want to finish it fast so I could know what is going to happen; or just enjoy reading it for a long time. I finished the book 10 minutes ago, and the first thing that I did is that I hugged it. The book has so much..everything in it. Emotions, good conversations, amazing plots. Thank you again. Thank you. So much.

  15. I am about to do a massive project on this book for school and present it at a ‘Gala Book Day’ at the end of the year. I loved this read so much and the storyline was so perfect. CAN NOT WAIT TO READ THE SEQUEL!!

  16. I just finished the book and I think it is a really great book! It made me think of another story I really like, namely ‘all the bright places’. The story is touching and holds your attention till the end. I felt empathetic to Declan and his pour relation with his parents. And I love the end 🙂 Brigid, thank you for sharing this story with me 🙂

  19. This book was AMAZING. I didn’t want to read it at first because I thought it was another typically clichéd romance story. How wonderfully wrong I was! It’s my new fave book. Thank you Brigid Kemmerer (I like that name for some reason) for writing such a beautiful original novel. 100 out of 5
