A readalong, a contest, and five boys flashing you.

Hi, guys! Guess what showed up in my mailbox this afternoon?

Finished copies of Spirit! Do you want one? Keep reading to the end of the post to find out how you can win one!

First off, in case you hadn’t heard the news, the Spirit blog tour will be hosted by Wendy of the amazing blog The Midnight Garden. As part of the tour, both Cuddlebuggery Book Blog and Starry-Eyed Revue are participating as “Elemental Virgins,” meaning they’ve never read the series — AND they’re hosting a readalong! If you’d like to join in the readalong, sign up on either of their blogs. Psssst, they’re also hosting a contest, too… Definitely worth checking it out.

And if YOU are an Elemental Virgin, or if you know someone who is, check out the amazing button you can put on your site! (Huge props to Sarah from Saz101 for the design!)

Also, I’m still planning on being at the Annapolis Book Festival on Saturday. Guess what showed up at my house this afternoon? FINISHED COPIES OF SPIRIT. I’ll bring a few to the Festival. If you want one, you just have to be the first two people to ask me for one. Don’t be shy!

And finally, the CONTEST! I’m going to give away two finished copies of Spirit right here on the blog. This contest is open internationally. Here’s how to enter:

On Saturday, I need to read a few pages of one of my books. In the comments, recommend a scene for me to read to the audience. It can be a scene from any of the books or novellas. If you don’t want to recommend a scene, or if you haven’t read the books, just tell me you want to enter the contest.

Basically, if you leave a comment, you’re entered.

Sound easy enough? Good! The contest is open until Friday night at 8pm, NYC time.

    • Oh, I absolutely love that scene. You should also read the truth or dare scene between Gabriel and Layne, I just loved that scene and I see their story was a hit by the comments so far haha. Great Giveaway Brigid! ^_^

  1. Can you read the fire scene in Spark without giving away the ending? That’s the scene that stands out to me. If not, then how about the party scene near the beginning?

  2. The scene from the car accident in Storm.
Also , any scene from Spark with Gabriel and Michael having actual conversations. Loved those scenes in Spark.

  3. EEEEEEE BRIGID! That button looks AMAZING <3 Sarah is brilliant! As for a scene, it's hard to choose since I love every one of them…but I agree with Vangelina. The barnyard scene would be awesome!

Thank you SO much for the giveaway, Brigid <3 I hope you have a great time at the book festival!

  4. I apologize. Cannot think of a scene as I’m working on only a few hours of sleep (newborn) but I would love to be entered. Thank you πŸ™‚

  5. I’m so excited about this contest! I read Storm for the first time a month ago, and I couldn’t even wait two days for the library to get Spark so I went out and bought it. Best decision ever! I’ve now read the entire series twice and I can’t wait to read Spirit!

Anyway, I’d recommend the scene from Spark (Chapter 10) where Gabriel and Nick fight. The scene is great because you can sense the tension and emotion, and it has a nice element (no pun intended) of suspense.

  6. I think the best scene for you to read is in Storm: the car accident scene
Spark: When Layne and Gabriell just arrived at the beach after the incedent at Heather’s house or something.

Thanks!!! I Hope you read on of these scenes!!!

  7. Hi! What about the scene from Storm as Becca, Chris and Hunter are walking back to the cars after escaping from Seth and Tyler on the beach. Chris and Hunter are bickering and Becca ultimately lets Chris help her. Or, Chris and Gabriel, in Storm, going to blow up Tyler’s truck…Or, when Chris shows up to drive Becca to school after her car is totaled…Or, Becca and Chris writing notes back and forth in history class….
    Anything from Storm would rock!
The first actual conversation between Michael and Gabriel in Sprak is a good one, too.

  8. If you read from Storm I would like the first scene where Seth and Tyler are beating Chris up. I read that scene on a website and it got me hooked on the series.
If you read from Spark I think you should read the scene where all the guys are in a huge fight and Nick is basically choking Gabriel. Like that scene also.

  9. I agree with Cassady! The very fist chapter of Storm is what got me hooked to the series!
In spark, you should probably read the scene were Gabriel looses control of the fire the first time. I really like how Micheal, instead of yelling at him, hugged him! Or one of the scenes where Gabriel defends Layne brother. OR the fight scene in Chapter 10, between Nick and Gabriel! There all great!
    And thanks for the giveaway!

  10. I know you hate it, but the scene where Chris explains the Elementals to Becca with the pentagram. It’s such a brilliant explanation and primer and and and…

    or kissing.
    We do like kissing πŸ˜€

  11. Ohh there’s so many wonderful scenes, but you just have to read the scene in Spark where Gaberiel catches Michael’s firefighter girlfriend (sorry I’m forgetting her name at the moment) sneaking out early in the morning. I think it was towards the end of the book. That was seriously one of the funniest and cutest scene I’ve read besides Gabe & Lanie of course πŸ˜‰ . Maybe because I’m glad Michael has found someone again. πŸ™‚

Anyway thanks for doing an awesome giveaway!! πŸ˜€ xx

  12. Ahhh! So many good ones have been suggested already… I can’t think of anything else! Really, any scene you read will be awesome. ;D LOVE this series, I almost wish I hadn’t read it yet so I could join in the readalong and read the books again for the first time!

  13. Because, personally, I find reading scenes with any intimacy in to others slightly blush-inducing, I’m going to suggest the scene where Gabriel fights with Nick, and Gabriel can’t breathe.
On the button, I kinda wish I was an EV just so I could use it, because it’s flippin’ cool.
And on those Spirit ARC’s? Yeah, you need to keep one for a lady called Kathy (or Katherine) because she’s coming to get one for me (and it’s all about MEMEMEMEMEMEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Obviously, I’d come myself, but I don’t have the airfare and I have to be in London Monday morning for the book fair there). πŸ˜‰

  14. I LOVED that scene in Storm in which Chris and Becca are in the car and Chris keeps telling himself not to stare..

OR the scene in which Hunter teaches Becca to fight

OR .. OR The cafeteria scene because Quinn is AWESOME in Storm when she’s being funny.. The football field one is funnier and more emotional but that has spoilers….

  15. Hey Brigid! You should read them the part in ‘Spark’ where they are at the party and Gabriel and Becca save Layne from Ryan Stacey. Or when Layne and Gabriel are playing the Truth game on Gabriel’s tailgate. Thanks for the contest Brigid! Good Luck to everyone! πŸ™‚ <3 xx

  16. Any part of the first prequel, Elementals – Michael’s story. So much happiness turns into so much pain. But it shows where he’s come from.

I heart Michael (& Nick, & Chris, & Gabe & Hunter & Adam, of course Adam).

    Good luck with picking!

  17. I would disagree with the people telling you to read kissy stuff just because–personal preference here–I get super uncomfortable when people read sexytime stuff in a public environment. Squick!

I’d stick with stuff with Layne or between the boys. God, I love these boys.

  18. I think you should read the part where Gabriel and Nick fight in their house and Nick takes the air away from him and Gabriel is searching for a source.

I would also like to enter the contest.

  19. So many great recommendations! I loved the scene in Spark when Michael and Gabriel have a talk and they’re sitting together having beers and Michael tells Gabriel about the week Chris had mono, the twins were in trouble and after feeling like it was too much he went to his parents’ graves. Hope you have fun at the festival πŸ™‚

  20. Rd the scene in Storm when Becca confronts Gabriel on the soccer field and Gabriel punches Quinn’s ex-boyfriend. That scene is my favorite!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  21. I liked the scene in Spark when Hunter and Gabriel went into the first house fire or the party in spark that was a good part

  22. I love that button! I’m very tempted to pretend I’m new to the series just so I can add the button to my blog & have an excuse to re-read the series LOL

To be honest I think you could read pretty much any scene from the series and get new readers hooked LOL. I’d probably go with the very beginning though – where Chris is being beaten up and Becca comes to his rescue! It’s such a great start & I couldn’t stop reading after that :o)

  23. Oh my goodness, there are so many to choose from… From Storm: the 1st chapter where Chris is attacked and Becca saves him and takes him home; the bridge scene where Chris saves Becca; or the scene where Becca punches Gabriel (I always loved that part)
From Spark: I always enjoyed the parts where Gabriel helped out Simon and treated him equally; or Gabe and Nick’s fight; or when he 1st goes over to Layne’s house πŸ™‚
I cannot wait for these books!! I love the Merrick boys <3

  24. I’ll agree with some of the above posters and say the accident scene in Storm.

Thanks for the chance to win πŸ™‚

  25. Hmmm, I recommend a scene with Chris and Becca in the first book, in class! There are so many. Especially some of the earlier ones πŸ˜€

Thank you so much for the giveaway! <3

  26. I would actually say the first chapter of “Storm.” It’s what inspired me to pick up the book (after seeing it featured on Smart Bitches, Trashy Books for one of their book club picks).

I absolutely loved Becca in that scene and thought she made a great knight in shining armor (you know, figuratively speaking). πŸ™‚

  27. I love the scene in chapter 7 in Storm where Becca must force herself to look at Gabriel’s face and not his chest. I think i’d be exactly the same!! But I do honestly think that you could read any scene from Storm or Spark and everyone would love it! πŸ™‚

  28. Hmm, I really like that scene in STORM when the brother’s are attacked by a Guardian on a bridge and a huge storm picks up. That’s also when Becca is trying get home and Chris finds her passed out in her car.

So intense and I loved finally being able to see what they could do!

  29. Mmmm I really can’t decide which snece you should read, but definetly one from Spark!
And I’d love to enter this contest πŸ™‚

  30. I love the Scene in storm were Michael tells Chris to stay away from Becca . It feels like Forbidden love. I also love the scene in storm were Bacca takes Chris home after the fight and she is in the Kitchen with his brother. She is so Scared and nervous. I just love the book storm! I have a lot of scenes in storm I love❀.I have read All of your books in the Elemental series at Least 2 times. I can’t wait till the next book . I hope I don’t sound like too much of a fan.

  31. You definitely DEFINITELY need to read the first chapter of Storm, where Becca saves Chris’s life when he’s getting beat up. Reading that first chapter online when you posted it was what first got me hooked onto reading the series — thank goodness for that awesome marketing LOL!

Or you should read any scene with Gabriel in it from Spark. I’m sure it will have the same effect. πŸ˜‰

Thanks so much for the EPIC contest, Brigid! <33

  32. I always forget to check your blog for this kind of information!! WAHHHHHHHH I am probably late and my life is over. Still cannot wait till this comes out. And all the best scenes have been taken. You are aways so kind with your contests. MAy I ask though is there a difference between the book release in america and australia?? or will spirit come out at the same time as america in Australia??

    • The sad thing is that I haven’t picked a winner yet (I logged on to do it tonight), so I’ll throw your name in the pot. Here goes nothing…

The release date for Spirit in Australia is 6/1. Breathless (Nick’s short story) will be out 4/30 as an ebook. I hope you enjoy them!
